Death On The Mountain: The Story Of Tom Simpson

Last week BBC4 broadcast a documentary about Tom Simpson's controversial death near the summit of Mont Ventoux during the 13th stage of the 1967 Tour de France.  Interwoven into the story of Simpson's death is the remarkable story of how the miner's son from Nottinghamshire conquered continental cycling during the 1960s. Being a Nottingham lad myself I'm very proud of what Mr Tom achieved during his short life.

Below is the entire fascinating documentary (broken down into six parts) featuring interviews from many luminaries of the day such as Vin Denson, Barry Hoban, Jean Stablinski and Jean Bobet.  I've no idea how long it will stay on YouTube so watch it now while you have the chance.  It's 58 odd minutes well spent.

Thanks for the opportunity to watch this great documentary. Yes it's still up on Youtube in July 2012.
